296 Job 26 – 28; Matthew 19
So much of Job's conversation with his friends has to do with none of them understanding God's grace. People in the N.T. had the same problem and here is what God told Peter to say,
"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
The Lord allows the wicked to go on living in hopes that they come to repentance. Jesus could come back right now and if He did many of our friends would wind up in hell. God's grace and mercy holds God to a different time line and a different way of bringing judgment upon the wicked. Something else that we can see as outsiders on this conversation is that they spend way too much time thinking about others lives instead of just focusing on themselves.
Who has a chance to get into heaven? Whoever obeys the Lord. Obedience always has to do with believing upon the Lord Jesus Christ with no reservations. The rich man could not fully commit to the Lord because he wanted to bring some things along with him. The disciples dropped theirs nets and followed Jesus. We as believers have to continue to monitor what we are picking up along the way. Is there anything that you wouldn’t give up to follow Christ?
