Romans 5:1-8

Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)
1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

We were born into death, unrighteousness, and condemnation. Apart from Christ this is who we are in Adam, our first prototype. This is why Paul writes that for all have sinned. Paul can say that because we were born sinners. In Christ we have life, righteousness, and we are no longer condemned, we are justified. Christ came to counter everyone of the problems that we had with God the Father. We now have peace with God, because we have been justified. We have a brand new beginning in Christ. How did such a radical transformation take place? It is by faith that we gained access into this grace. Anyone can believe. It is not our works and that truth is found in the next verses.

Romans 5:6-8 (NIV)
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

When I am having a bad day these are some of the verses I turn to remind how fortunate I am. That God loves me right now in His Son--period! It does not get any better than knowing and experiencing this magnificent truth. Hold your head high dear fellow believer. You are held in high regard by your Father in heaven. Have you memorized any Scripture lately? Maybe one of these verses strike you as one you should memorize. Go for it.
