135 2 Kings 015 – 017; Luke 1.26 – 1.56
When reading about these kings that are grouped so closely together it is so sad. It is like watching a train wreck and you can't do a thing about it. On page 667 in the second paragraph we read these words, "God had taken a stand against Israel and Judah, speaking clearly through countless holy prophets and seers time and time again." What were they saying, "Turn away from your evil way of life." They knew better and still did evil. It is not always ignorance that causes people to sin, many times people sin because they want to.
An angel had visited Elizabeth and now an angel is visiting Mary, the virgin. Read this with the thought of what in the world was Mary thinking. “The Lord God will give him (your son) the throne of David.” Are you kidding me? Perhaps in today's world we would tell the angel to up their meds. Oh and by the way, you will conceive this child by the power of the Holy Spirit…huh?!
